Merrisa has loved writing since she was a child, winning her first competition at the age of 10 with a (very) creative narrative on owning a slave-free plantation in the Civil War era. She is an Accredited Business Communicator who worked in corporate marketing and communications for nearly 20 years before deciding to pursue her dream of freelancing. Her experience includes everything from magazine editing, to business blogging, to ghostwriting for big-company CEOs, but her greatest writing challenge to date was her own adoption profile book. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas A&M University and became accredited by the International Association of Business Communicators in 2011. She’s mom to a darling daughter, adopted in 2015, as well as a beloved yellow lab, and is looking forward along with her husband to adopting baby number two (and maybe even three).
